As a little girl, Smita Kabra would watch in awe as her mother draped a saree—each fold, each pleat, a quiet rhythm of tradition and grace. She would wrap herself in those heirloom drapes, twirling before the mirror, feeling the silent stories woven into every thread. Back then, she didn't know that sarees would one day become her destiny.

A NIFT alumna with a passion for design, dance, and art, Smita always sought to create something of her own. From running a gifting and events business to traveling across India, she found herself drawn to the country’s rich tapestry of culture and craftsmanship. But it was in Banaras that her journey took an unexpected turn.

Amidst the ghats of Banaras and the serenity of the Ganga, Smita felt an unexplainable sukoon, as if the city itself whispered its secrets. A visit to the local weavers revealed more than fabric—it was art, heritage, and devotion woven into every thread.

Through every step of her journey, her father and, later, her husband stood as her pillars of strength. Their unwavering belief in her dreams fueled her confidence, reminding her that she could carve her own path. With their constant support, she pursued her vision fearlessly, knowing she always had them by her side, leading to the birth of Mauve.
